Reach China — and run Asia — on one cloud
Alibaba Cloud is Asia Pacific’s largest cloud provider, with two data centres in Thailand and infrastructure inside mainland China. We design, migrate and operate workloads on it — and sell it in baht — with the same discipline we bring to Google Cloud.

What is Alibaba Cloud?
Alibaba Cloud is the cloud arm of Alibaba Group — the infrastructure behind Taobao, Tmall and the 11.11 shopping festival, made available for your business to build on. It is the fourth-largest cloud provider in the world by IaaS revenue, and the largest in Asia Pacific, where it holds more market share than any hyperscaler (Gartner, 2025).
It spans elastic compute, storage, networking, databases, security, data analytics and AI — including Qwen, the most-downloaded open-source model family in the world. And it is the only major cloud that operates the same way on both sides of the Chinese border: one console, one account, one architecture from Bangkok to Beijing.

// Thailand
Your data can stay in Thailand — here too.
The first Thai data centre opened in 2022 and the second on 13 February 2025 — built for the generative-AI demand the first one could not hold. Data residency in-country, latency that does not round-trip to Singapore, and a local ecosystem of around 70 companies.
| What runs locally | Detail |
|---|---|
| Core platform | Elastic compute, storage, database, networking and security products, served from Thailand |
| AI & analytics | AnalyticDB with a cloud-native vector engine — the retrieval layer for RAG applications — plus data analytics services |
| Modern workloads | Container Compute Service (ACS) for serverless Kubernetes, Elastic Desktop (EDS), ApsaraVideo VOD |
| PDPA | In-country residency for specified data, with the vendor’s compliance portfolio behind it — bring your own DPA review, and we will sit in it with you |
Not every workload belongs here — some services still run only from Singapore or mainland regions. We check service-by-service availability before we commit an architecture, and we will tell you if the Thai region is the wrong answer.
// Why Alibaba Cloud
Five reasons teams choose Alibaba Cloud.
Every hyperscaler says scalable, reliable, secure. Here is what is specifically true of Alibaba Cloud in 2026 — with the numbers attached.
-
It works inside China
The workload you run in Thailand can run in Hangzhou, Shanghai or Shenzhen without changing cloud, console or account structure. For mainland deployment, the China Gateway programme covers the regulatory path — ICP registration and MLPS 2.0 compliance — that stops most “we will just use a CDN” plans at the border. No other major cloud offers this from a Thai starting point.
-
It is the biggest cloud in this region
#1 in Asia Pacific IaaS by revenue with 22.5% share, ahead of every competitor; #4 worldwide at 7.7% (Gartner, Market Share: IaaS Worldwide, 2025). #1 in mainland China and Hong Kong, #2 in Malaysia and Indonesia, #3 in Singapore. If your users are in Asia, this is the cloud whose network was built for them.
-
Open-source AI that leads the field
The Qwen model family passed 3 billion downloads in August 2026 — more than Meta’s Llama or Google’s open models — making it the most-adopted open model line in the world. On the platform, Model Studio serves Qwen and third-party models with tuning, evaluation and guardrails; PAI covers custom training and inference. If your AI strategy involves open-weight models you control, this ecosystem is the deepest.
-
Price-competitive where the region decides
For steady-state regional workloads — compute, storage, CDN traffic across Asia — the pricing frequently lands below the US hyperscalers, and the subscription model rewards predictable usage. We put real numbers on this per workload in a current-state review rather than quoting a blanket percentage, because a blanket percentage would be marketing.
-
Commerce-grade infrastructure
This is the platform that carries 11.11, the world’s largest shopping event, at traffic peaks most architectures never have to survive. If you run retail, ticketing, promotions or anything with a flash-sale traffic curve, that pedigree is directly relevant to your architecture.
// Go China
The part no one else tells you: getting into China properly.
Serving customers inside mainland China is a regulatory project before it is a technical one. Websites and apps hosted in the mainland need ICP registration; systems handling Chinese users’ data fall under MLPS 2.0 classification. Get the sequence wrong and your launch waits on paperwork.
We plan the path before we build: where the workload sits — mainland, Hong Kong, or cross-border from Thailand — what registration it needs, what data can cross the border, and what stays. Then we build the architecture to match the answer, not the other way round. We advise, we architect, and we can file the ICP registration on your behalf — so the regulatory path and the build are run by one team rather than handed between two.
Thai business selling into China
Cross-border architecture from Thailand or Hong Kong first; mainland deployment with ICP when traction justifies it.
Chinese business landing in Southeast Asia
The same cloud they already run on, now with Thai data centres, Thai invoicing and a Bangkok team in their time zone.
Regional estate spanning both
Thailand, China and Southeast Asia designed as one estate — one account structure, one security baseline, one operations runbook.

What we do on Alibaba Cloud.
| Service | What it means in practice | Where it lives |
|---|---|---|
| Account structure, network, IAM and security baseline built to be handed over, not held hostage | /services/cloud-foundation | |
| Moving workloads across — from another cloud, from on-prem, or into the Thai data centres for residency | /services/cloud-migration | |
| CEN, Express Connect and the Go China path — planned rather than improvised | /services/cloud-migration | |
| Data pipelines, warehouses and RAG applications on MaxCompute, AnalyticDB and Model Studio | /services/data-platform-ai | |
| We keep it running afterwards — monitoring, patching, incident response, FinOps | /services/managed-cloud | |
| Buy it through us — one invoice, Thai tax documentation, bank transfer | /cloud-billing |
// Why Digithun
You can buy it directly. Here’s why our customers don’t.
The commercial side
| Term | Description |
|---|---|
| Invoice in Thai baht | No USD credit card, no FX surprises, no foreign transaction fees on your monthly bill |
| Proper tax invoice in your company’s name | Full ใบกำกับภาษี, compliant with Thai law |
| Bank transfer, with credit terms | No corporate card required, and ⟦N⟧-day payment terms available |
| One invoice across every cloud | Google Cloud, BytePlus and this platform, consolidated into one monthly bill |
| A proof of concept that does not depend on the vendor’s trial | The vendor’s free-trial programme excludes customers who buy through resellers, so we scope a proof of concept with you instead. Instead we bring funding: a proof-of-concept and migration package at a special discount, scoped to your workload. |
The capability side
| Term | Description |
|---|---|
| The team that sells it also builds on it | We are engineers first, resellers second. The migration plan and the invoice come from the same people |
| One team across your clouds | Most Thai enterprises are not single-cloud. We run several as one estate — one security baseline, one on-call, one bill |
| Support in Thai and English | The first response comes from Bangkok, in your time zone, from someone who has seen your account before. ⟦scope and hours must match /services/managed-cloud⟧ |
| Cross-border experience | The China question — ICP, MLPS 2.0, data crossing borders — answered before the architecture is drawn |
Buying direct vs buying through Digithun.
| Direct from the vendor | Through Digithun | |
|---|---|---|
| Payment method | Credit card (USD) | Bank transfer (THB) or credit card |
| Currency | USD | Thai baht |
| Tax invoice (ใบกำกับภาษี) | ✗ | ✓ |
| Price on cloud services | List price | List price or better — never higher |
| Free trial | Available buying direct | Not available through resellers, by vendor rule — replaced by a scoped proof of concept with our engineers — with proof-of-concept and migration funding, at a special discount |
| Technical support | Paid support plans, priced per tier | A local team, with vendor escalation when it is the vendor’s problem ⟦state precisely what “included” covers⟧ |
| Support language | English / Chinese | Thai and English |
| Consolidated multi-cloud billing | ✗ | ✓ Google Cloud, BytePlus and this platform on one invoice |
| Implementation help | Buy separately | Same team, same contract |

Frequently asked questions.
Is it more expensive to buy Alibaba Cloud through a reseller?
No. You buy the same services at the same list price on the same consoles. Our terms are in writing before you commit.
Can I get a Thai tax invoice for Alibaba Cloud spend?
Yes — that is most of the point. Invoice in baht, full tax documentation, bank transfer accepted.
We already use Alibaba Cloud. Can we move our billing to you?
Yes. Moving the billing relationship does not touch your resources, consoles or access. Ask us for the current transfer terms for your account type.
Does Alibaba Cloud have data centres in Thailand?
Yes — two. The first opened in 2022, the second in February 2025, largely for generative-AI workloads. Specified data can stay in-country, which changes the PDPA conversation the same way the Google Cloud Bangkok region did.
Is Alibaba Cloud safe for a PDPA-regulated business?
Alibaba Cloud carries more than 140 security and compliance accreditations, and the Thai data centres allow in-country residency for specified data. Your obligations under PDPA remain yours — we help you map data flows so the answer in your security review is documented, not assumed.
What do we need to launch a website or app in mainland China?
Hosting in the mainland requires ICP registration, and systems handling Chinese users’ data fall under MLPS 2.0. Timelines vary by case. The honest answer is: plan the regulatory path first, then the architecture — which is the order we work in.
Can we serve Chinese users without deploying in the mainland?
Sometimes. Hong Kong regions and cross-border acceleration can be enough, depending on latency tolerance and content type. It is a trade-off conversation, not a default — we will show you both options priced.
What is Qwen, and why does it matter?
Qwen is the open-source model family from Alibaba — past 3 billion downloads as of August 2026, the most-downloaded open models in the world. It matters if you want strong models you can run, tune and control without per-token lock-in. We deploy Qwen via Model Studio or PAI, and we will tell you when a closed model is the better tool.
How does Alibaba Cloud compare with Google Cloud? Which should we use?
We sell and build on both, so this answer has no thumb on the scale. Google Cloud leads for data platforms and integrated AI tooling in our delivery. Alibaba Cloud leads for China reach, Asia-first networks and commerce-scale workloads. Many of our customers run both — the review tells you which workloads belong where.
Can we try Alibaba Cloud for free before committing?
The free-trial programme from Alibaba Cloud excludes customers who buy through resellers — a vendor rule, not ours. So we do it differently: a scoped proof of concept with our engineers on your use case. Instead we bring funding: a proof-of-concept and migration package at a special discount, scoped to your workload.
What support do we get, and in what language?
Support starts with our team in Bangkok, in Thai or English, with escalation into the vendor when the problem is the platform’s. ⟦support scope and hours must match /services/managed-cloud before this publishes⟧
Do you work with Google Cloud too?
Yes — it is where most of our delivery runs, as a certified implementation partner. See Google Cloud. Multi-cloud through one team is the point: BytePlus and Alibaba Cloud where the workload calls for it.
Cross-border reach, without the improvisation.
Tell us where your users are and where your data has to live. That usually settles which cloud — and which country — your next workload belongs in.
Innovate for the better tomorrow.

Our
Move
-
Buying the platform and building on it used to be two conversations with two suppliers. It is one conversation now: we resell Google Cloud, Alibaba Cloud and BytePlus, and the same engineers who size the environment stay with it through production support.
For teams already running with us, nothing changes technically — the difference is commercial. Licensing, quota and billing sit with the people who know what the workload actually does.
-
A certified implementation partner works to the cloud provider's published reference architectures. In practice that means your landing zone, IAM model and network layout look like something any Google Cloud engineer can pick up — including the next team you hire.
It also means the review gates are not ours to waive. Where the reference architecture asks for separation of duties or a break-glass path, it gets built.
-
Hospital data arrives in fragments — HIS exports, lab feeds, scanned forms, free-text notes in Thai and English. Before a model sees any of it, someone has to answer where each field came from, who consented to what, and which records must never leave the country.
We build that layer first. It is slower to demo and it is the reason the pilots survive contact with a real ward.
-
Live commerce moves fast enough that the recommendation loop has to close in the same session. That puts the weight on the event pipeline, not the model: what counts as a view, when a cart event lands, how quickly the feature store sees it.
We treat the BytePlus components as a stack to be wired properly rather than a switch to be flipped. The lift comes from the wiring.
-
The site you are reading ships as static HTML, one stylesheet and one script, served by a Node process with a strict content security policy. There is no analytics tag, no font CDN and no tracker.
It is partly a statement of taste and partly a working sample: the same restraint we bring to a client's platform, applied to our own front door.
-
Warehouses fill up faster than they get governed. By the time a model needs a feature, nobody can say which of the four revenue columns is authoritative, and the project stalls in a meeting about definitions.
The fix is unglamorous: contracts on the ingest side, lineage through the transformations, and one owner per domain. Do that and the AI work stops being archaeology.
